finishing off your opponent?

first of all hi all, i'm new to poker and reading some of the stuff on here has been very interesting and useful.

anyway my question is basically when i'm playing in sit&go tournaments and get to the final two i can never seem to be able to kill off my oponent even if i've got twice as many chips as them. for instance say i've got kk and my oponent goes all in with j 10 and i call them they always seem to flop two pairs or three of a kind. i know it's mainly down to luck but have you got any tips for 'finishing off your oponent'?

thanks in advance,

scott

sorry if this sounds stupid it's just really been annoying me and it don't hurt to ask.
